Step 1: Access resources

1. Login with your Encom account to search for Curriculum Resources

2. Search using the available filters to find resources that fit your student’s plan

3. Download the slide deck onto your computer which includes the assignment description, downloadable and printable worksheets, and assessment rubrics

Step 2: Receive Christian Studies credits

1. Ask your teacher to add the resources you selected in Step 1 to your student’s learning plan

2. Submit any completed curriculum assignments to your support teacher

This filter allows families to choose an HCOS Biblical Attribute to study:

Assurance

Students will become aware of the certainty of God’s enduring love, protection, provision and dominion.

Commissioned

Students will seek to understand the truth and liberty of the gospel, so that they may effectively invite others into a relationship with Jesus.

Community

Community – Students will discover that they have a unique role to play in a living and growing community; they will seek to discover their own gifts and skills, and to affirm the gifts and skills of others.

Grace

Students will grow in their appreciation for the beauty of grace and the lengths Christ went through to offer undeserved favour.

Righteousness

Students will grow in their understanding of how sin creates a barrier in the relationship between Creator and creation, and will seek to live lives characterized by love, justice and integrity

Repentance

Students will seek to continually reorient their lives toward Christ, in order to imitate Him in their beliefs, emotions, motivations and decisions.

Restoration

Students will become aware of the call to be compassionate peacemakers, and to be participants in God’s mission to bring about the restoration and reconciliation of all things according to His intention for creation.

Worship

Students will revel in the wonder of God’s beauty, power and goodness, as they recognize His work in the world and in their own lives.

Students will look to God as their source of knowledge and understanding and will become discerning learners

This filter allows families to find resources dependent upon level of engagement:

Activities

Activities are standalone worksheets that are one day lessons. Some activities are universal, meaning that templates and worksheets can be used more than once.

Projects

Projects require students to engage with the content between 1-3 weeks. These projects dive into book studies, themes or topics and include a variety of activities and readings.

Modules

Modules are a more robust study that encourage students to dive into curriculum content at a more engaged and deeper level. These modules have been designed to take 4-7 weeks.

Focus

This filter allows families to search resources through the Head, Heart and Hands model:

Head

Students will engage and interact with the Bible to grow their knowledge and understanding. They will study key themes and work on developing their biblical worldview.

Heart

Students will connect the biblical narrative to their own experiences, engage in spiritual practices and pursue spiritual growth. They will learn to articulate their personal beliefs and implications of those beliefs on how they live.

Hands

Students will integrate their biblical understanding into acts of service by engaging in initiatives to care for God’s creation and serve their community. They will implement and foster their personal gifts and skills to fulfill their uniquely commissioned role.

Level

This filter allows families to search for resources that are divided into Primary (K-3), Intermediate (4-6), Middle (7-9) and Grad (10-12) content. The level of rigor increases depending upon the level chosen. Families have the ability to choose resources to engage with based upon one’s abilities or grade level.
